Review: Astrid, comprehensive task list for Android
Astrid is a to-do application for Android. There are not many good do lists for Android, so it seemed interesting to consider a comprehensive review of it. With Astrid, you can schedule tasks, get warning messages and synchronize with two online services: Google and Remember The Milk. Astrid is freely available in the Productivity category of the Android Market.
Astrid is characterized by a simple yet very complete design. Possible alternatives are RTM Tasks and TooDo. There is also a long list of simple task applications such as ToDo Lite, ToDo List Free, Action Complete ($ 5), Tasks and Tag ToDo List.
If you have installed Astrid then with one button you can add new tasks: you enter a description, priority and tags in first tab. On the second tab you can add start and end dates. So you can be reminded each day about a particular task. You can choose from regular (every day, every 5 minutes, etc) or solid memories (1 hour in advance, etc). You can also specify if you want to be alerted: after the deadline has passed or nonstop until you have viewed the task.
The making of subtasks is not possible. Well you can pretty accurately fill data: an absolute deadline (Thursday, March 26 at 18:00 pm) or a target deadline if it's not that urgent. You can even specify how much time you've spent on a task and you can add the task to your calendar. In home screen you will find a timer under each task and you can tap it when the task starts. After checking off a task it still remains visible, but crossed out and in a different font. Conclusion
One of the most comprehensive lists for Android, with a lot of options: you can temporarily hide tasks until they become relevant, record the time invested per job and export it to your calendar and sync with online services. This application has had many updates and is gradually becoming better. And it's free!
